Joe is originally from upstate New York where he attended the State University of New York at Fredonia and graduated with a bachelors degree in molecular genetics. He then moved to Virginia Tech to complete his Ph.D. in Translational Biology, Medicine, and Health with a research focus on mitochondrial quality control regulation in progressive ovarian cancer. Joe is super excited to be joining CEDAR and focusing my research studies on cancer risk within the LGBTQ+ community, initially focusing on hormone therapy and its potential risk in transgender individuals.
