Kai Tao, Ph.D.

  • Research Engineer 2, CEDAR, OHSU Knight Cancer Institute, School of Medicine

Biography

Kai Tao joins CEDAR as a research engineer 2 after three years working at Oregon Health and Science University, where he studied the spatial system biology of RAS GTPases- and HER- family receptor-related cancers using super-resolution microscopy (SRM), such as DNA-PAINT, STORM, PALM. He received his Ph.D. in molecular and cellular biology from Oregon State University, using bimolecular fluorescence complementation to investigate protein-lipid-membrane interactions in plant cells. His research expertise includes molecular biology, genetic engineering, protein chemistry, bioconjugation and biomolecular purification. He also has extensive experience in performing fluorescence microscopic imaging. As an enthusiastic photographer, Kai enjoys exploring great views in the pacific northwest. Kai is excited to join CEDAR and believes he could make great contribution in advancing CEDAR mission.
