Biography
Dr. Kara Detwiller is originally from New England and received a Bachelor’s degree in Chinese Studies and Economics with honors at Wellesley College in Massachusetts. After working in the information technology field for several years, she decided to pursue a career in medicine. She graduated with honors from Dartmouth Medical School. She completed her Otolaryngology residency at OHSU and fellowship training in Rhinology and Skull Base Surgery at Northwestern University in Chicago. She is board certified in Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery.
Her clinical practice is focused on nasal and sinus disorders with a particular interest in endoscopic sinus surgery and minimally invasive in office procedures, chronic sinusitis, hereditary hemorrhagic telangiectasia, and allergy. She is the co-director of the Multidisciplinary Sinus and Allergy clinic focused on patients with severe chronic rhinosinusitis, asthma, and allergy. In addition to her work at OHSU, Dr. Detwiller is the section chief of Otolaryngology at the Portland VA Medical Center.
