Biography

Dr. Schenning’s research, which ranges from basic science to translational and clinical studies, is focused on the effects of anesthesia and surgery on cognition, functional status, and quality-of-life in older adults. Currently, she is completing a longitudinal prospective study investigating the role of Alzheimer’s risk factors on cognitive and functional decline after spine surgery in older adults. Dr. Schenning’s research is currently supported by the National Institute on Aging (NIA), the Foundation for Anesthesia Education and Research (FAER), and the Alzheimer’s Association.
