Kristin Prewitt, M.D., M.P.H. (she/her)
- Maternal Fetal Medicine Fellow, Obstetrics and Gynecology, School of Medicine
Biography
Kristin Prewitt (she/her) grew up in Milwaukee, Wisconsin as the oldest of four kids. She graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Madison with a degree in English Literature and from the University of South Florida with a dual MD and MPH in Epidemiology degree.
She then moved to Portland, Oregon for residency at OHSU. Although she initially started residency in Family Medicine, she transitioned to OHSU’s Obstetrics and Gynecology program, desiring to expand her ability to advocate for patients through high-risk obstetrics, advanced family planning, and surgical care. She graduated from OB/GYN residency in June 2023 and continued at OHSU in the Addiction Medicine Fellowship, graduating July 2024.
Her research and work focus on substance use in pregnancy and postpartum, family unification, birth trauma, destigmatizing medical care, abortion care, harm reduction, and acute pain management during procedures for patients with opioid use. Having been a teenage parent herself, Kristin also has a particular interest in adolescent care. As a physician, her goal is to always be alongside patients in their medical journey and to make sure patients feel informed, supported, and advocated for in their care.
In her free time, she likes to cook, garden, hike, read, and explore the Portland food scene with her two kids and partner. She is strictly a cat lady.
