Biography

Leo Barriga is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and experienced behavioral health clinician.

He joined Student Health after spending the last 18 years with varying clinical roles in psychiatry at Northwestern Medicine in Chicago.

Leo graduated with his B.F.A. from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and worked as a professional freelance photographer for several years. He then chose to switch professions and earned his M.S.W. from Loyola University of Chicago in 2001.

He worked at the Department of Psychiatry at Northwestern Medicine/Northwestern University for 18 years in various roles, including clinical research, acute inpatient and outpatient care, and as the clinical leader for the outpatient psychiatry clinic.

He was excited to relocate to Portland in 2019 and join the Student Health team to provide behavioral healthcare to OHSU students and postdoctoral scholars.

His clinical interests include mood and anxiety disorders, helping people navigate relationship issues, and working with international students. He is bilingual in English and Spanish.
