Biography

Dr. Gebhard received his medical degree from the University of Colorado School of Medicine, after which he completed his medical internship at Maimonides Medical Center in Brooklyn, NY, followed by his residency training in ophthalmology at UC Davis Medical Center in Sacramento, CA. He has practiced comprehensive ophthalmology with a focus on cataract surgery at the Casey Eye Institute Hood River and The Dalles clinics since 2016.

In 2022 Dr. Gebhard took a one-year leave from his practice to pursue a fellowship in global ophthalmology at the University of Utah’s Moran Eye Center, participating in skills-exchange, cataract surgery outreach, and other projects in Nepal, India, Tanzania, Mongolia, and American Samoa. In addition to his cataract surgery practice, Dr. Gebhard continues to be actively involved in Casey’s community outreach, international ophthalmology capacity-building programs, and in resident education at Casey/OHSU in Portland.

Outside of practicing ophthalmology, Dr. Gebhard loves being a dad and enjoys making school lunches, biking and skiing with his family, and taking his kids to the Hood River County library.
