Ngoc Wasson, M.P.H.

  • Technical Writer, Research in Anesthesiology and Perioperative Medicine, School of Medicine

Biography

Ngoc completed her BS in Neuroscience at Columbia University and received a Master of Public Health degree in Epidemiology and Biostatistics at OHSU. Her previous OHSU work includes publications in high-impact medical journals including Annals of Internal Medicine, co-authorship of book chapters, and numerous conference and slide presentations. In addition to her work at OHSU, she has been a consultant Medical Writer for Aggregate Analytics -  an independent, women-owned company.

Ngoc is originally from Da Nang, Vietnam and moved to the US as a child, growing up in rural unincorporated Clackamas County on a private airfield. Many years ago, she started her writing career as a teenager working for The Oregonian and was later hired to write feature articles and produce graphics for publication. After living in New York during college, Ngoc  returned to Portland to attend OHSU’s School of Medicine.

She and her partner own three surfboards that are collecting dust in their living room because she  prefers the warm ocean waters of Hawaii and Mexico to surfing in a wet suit on the Oregon Coast (though she does love the scenic beauty and beach walks on the Oregon Coast). She prefers biking to driving, and used to ride her bike up the hill to OHSU before we had the tram or bike valet. Ngoc enjoys cycling, hiking and backpacking, especially if there is sunshine in the forecast. International travel has been inspirational to her and she has spent time in Vietnam, Thailand, Taiwan, France, Germany, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Poland, and Mexico and hopes to visit more locations across the globe someday. Whenever possible, she feeds the crows.
