Biography

Niki Steckler Ph.D. is Professor of Management in the School of Medicine at Oregon Health & Science University where she has developed and taught highly-regarded leadership and mentoring skills professional development courses.  She holds a Ph.D. in Organizational Behavior from Harvard University. Dr. Steckler's expertise is in communication and collaboration across disciplines and organizational boundaries.

Dr. Steckler has won awards for her teaching excellence.  She currently serves as course director and instructor for the Leadership thread in the university’s Healthcare MBA, MS in Healthcare Administration, and Masters in Clinical Research degree programs as well as being co-director of the School of Medicine faculty development program Paths to Leadership.  She coauthored a resiliency skills curriculum for medical students and integrates tools for self-awareness and emotional self-regulation into the leadership courses she teaches. 

Dr. Steckler finds inspiration by helping health care professionals develop the change leadership skills needed to transform our health care organizations to meet the needs of our community. Her favorite part of her job is the chance to help others become more fully themselves at work, and to use their self-awareness to lead others in making a difference.
