Biography
Dr. Omar Kamal serves as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Diagnostic Radiology at Oregon Health and Science University. With a solid foundation in radiological sciences, his academic journey began at Assiut University in Egypt, where he earned both an M.D. and a Master's degree in Radiological Sciences.
After completing his radiology residency at the South Egypt Cancer Institute, Dr. Kamal furthered his expertise through a two-year MRI research fellowship in Germany. This international experience enhanced his skills in the field, leading to a fellowship in body imaging at OHSU.
In the realm of research, Dr. Kamal has contributed to several peer-reviewed publications, reflecting his ongoing commitment to advancing the field of diagnostic radiology. He is also a member of the editorial board of the American Journal of Radiology and the education committee of the Society of Imaging Informatics in Medicine. His interests lie particularly in cancer imaging, where he aims to contribute to innovative practices and research.
Looking ahead, Dr. Kamal is dedicated to advancing quantitative imaging biomarkers in abdominal radiology, aiming to improve diagnostic accuracy and patient outcomes.
Outside of his professional life, Dr. Kamal enjoys playing squash, reading, and spending quality time with his family.
