Biography

Rachel E. Woolley, M.S.N., F.N.P.-B.C. is an assistant professor at Oregon Health and Science University (OHSU) School of Nursing and when she is not engaged in teaching she practices as a nurse practitioner for Yamhill County Public Health Department. As a family nurse practitioner, she has dedicated her clinical practice to pediatric critical care and trauma, as well as reproductive health for underserved adolescents and adults in the public health setting. Recently she has developed a passion for volunteering in resource limited medical units related to asylum seeker and immigrant health and safety. She has educated nursing students at every degree level, beginning as a new nurse and across each, subsequent clinical practice setting. Furthermore, she has many years of experience teaching in the OHSU undergraduate nursing program and is best known on the Monmouth Campus for having blended and flipped the pathophysiology and pharmacology classrooms. Currently, her educational concentration is in using active learning strategies in teaching pathophysiology and pharmacology, in order to provide students with the unique opportunity to begin practicing clinical application of didactic knowledge in these traditionally lecture-based courses.
