Biography

Dr. Cloutier joined the Department of Emergency Medicine at OHSU in 2001 following his Emergency Medicine Residency at the Medical College of Pennsylvania and his Pediatric Emergency Medicine Fellowship at The Childrens Hospital of Philadelphia. Prior to becoming Fellowship Co-Director he started the Clinical Research Investigative Studies Program (CRISP); an undergraduate academic associate program that has facilitated numerous prospective studies in the Emergency Department since 2004. He has earned his Masters Degree in Clinical Research from OHSU and has become a core member of the teaching faculty for the Human Investigations Program that all PEM Fellows are encouraged to participate in. From 2007 he has served as the Director of the Emergency Medicine Simulation Program. During that time he developed numerous pediatric centered didactic sessions and curricula for a wide variety of learners from pre-hospital personnel to nurse and physician. He is dedicated to Pediatric Emergency Medicine education and finding novel means of training all providers charged with the care of children independent of training. Dr. Cloutier is also a graduate of the McMaster Evidence Based Medicine Program, the ACEP Teaching Fellowship and serves on the ABEM Subboard for Pediatric Emergency Medicine. He is also an Associate Editor for the 6th Edition of Harwood and Nuss's Clinical Practice of Emergency Medicine. Dr. Cloutier's other interests include backcountry skiing, beekeeping, cycling and running.
