Biography

Dr. Hayer was born in England and grew up in Los Angeles. She received her BA in Economics at Barnard College and attended the London School of Economics and SOAS, University of London for graduate school where she studied Medical Anthropology and Gender Studies. She is interested in embodied experiences in accessing reproductive healthcare and technologies, intersections of agency and wellbeing, and disparities in reproductive health outcomes. During medical school, she volunteered at a free clinic providing gynecologic care for uninsured patients, participated in street outreach and medical navigation for patients experiencing homelessness, and completed a qualitative research project on young women’s experiences accessing contraception in Khayelitsha, South Africa.
