Teresa Roland, B.S.

  • Clinical Research Assistant 2, CEDAR, OHSU Knight Cancer Institute, School of Medicine

Biography

Teresa joins CEDAR as a Clinical Research Assistant II. She recently received her B.S. in Public Health Studies from Portland State University. Her current interests lie in advancing health equity, preventative health, and health psychology. As part of her coursework, Teresa designed a simulated health promotion program to increase the proportion of females screened for breast cancer (Healthy People 2030 Goal C-05). Her theoretical community partnership included members of the Confederated Tribes of the Warm Springs, located in Central Oregon. Teresa is also a former AmeriCorps member for program outreach in Southern Arizona and her work in a behavioral health clinic serving those in historically marginalized communities in Northeast Portland introduced her to the importance of integrated care. Her senior capstone project sought to bring awareness of campus food security resources to the PSU community. She hopes her unique background and eagerness to help others will serve CEDAR's mission to pioneer new ways to detect cancer early. Teresa is humbled by the opportunity to work alongside such an innovative clinical trial team and is excited to delve into the field of cancer research. In her free time, she is an avid reader and loves to volunteer, go on nature walks, and explore Portland to find the next best restaurant.
