Biography

Dr. Toshinori Fukuda is a faculty member specializing in Cardiothoracic Radiology at Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU). With a robust foundation in cardiothoracic imaging, Dr. Fukuda has transitioned from an alternative pathway fellowship in Cardiothoracic Radiology at OHSU to a faculty role where he continues to make significant contributions in clinical practice, research, and education.

Dr. Fukuda began his medical journey at Toyama University of Medicine in Japan. He further refined his expertise during his Diagnostic Radiology residency and fellowship at St. Luke's International Hospital in Tokyo. His academic pursuits extended to alternative pathway fellowships in Neuroradiology and Pediatric Radiology at OHSU, showcasing his diverse skill set across radiology subspecialties.

A pioneer in integrating artificial intelligence (AI) into radiology, Dr. Fukuda leads research projects that explore the application of AI in chest CT, plain film, and other imaging modalities. His work aims to enhance diagnostic precision and improve patient outcomes through innovative technological solutions.

In addition to his research endeavors, Dr. Fukuda is deeply committed to education. As a former Chief Resident, he has mentored medical students, residents, and fellows, providing comprehensive training through clinical rotations, lectures, and educational conferences. As faculty, he continues to guide the next generation of radiologists with a focus on improving their diagnostic and reporting skills.

Outside of his professional responsibilities, Dr. Fukuda enjoys backpacking, scuba diving, and tennis. He has embraced life in Portland, immersing himself in the local culture and the natural beauty of the Pacific Northwest.
