Biography

Dr. Viet Bui is a general and forensic psychiatrist, whose interests include cultural and forensic psychiatry. As a doctor at the Oregon State Hospital, he performs forensic evaluations on criminal defendants, as well as assesses and treats patients who have been hospitalized under court order. He is especially interested in criminal responsibility and cognitive capacity to stand trial. Throughout his career, Dr. Bui has worked in a wide variety of settings, including inpatient, outpatient, and community mental health. Dr. Bui is an assistant professor at OHSU’s School of Medicine and has taught numerous residents and medical students. He is married and has one son.
