Ziqi "Hugo" Wang, Ph.D.
- Post Doctoral Scholar , Research in Anesthesiology and Perioperative Medicine, School of Medicine
Biography
Hugo started as a post-doctoral fellow in Andrei Sdrulla’s lab in Summer 2024. He comes from China, by way of Ontario, Canada where he spent the last decade. Hugo was trained as a biomedical engineer at McMaster University in Ontario, Canada. During his PhD, he investigated the coordinated refinement of excitatory and inhibitory circuits in neonatal rats’ auditory brainstems. In order to do so, he designed hardware equipment and software image analysis routines. Hugo loves to solve neuroscience questions with engineering solutions.
Dr. Andrei Sdrulla’s work attracted Hugo to Portland. He wants to dissect the coordination of excitatory and inhibitory circuits in a new model system. In Andrei’s lab he has the opportunity to develop engineering solutions for spinal cord stimulation and advanced image analysis.
