About me

Dr. Au specializes in general obstetrics and gynecology and has particular interests in minimally invasive surgery, cervical cancer screening and prevention, contraception, vaginal hysterectomy, patient safety, education, family-centered obstetric care, and breastfeeding medicine. She is an international board certified lactation consultant (IBCLC) and also serves on the Board of Directors for the Northwest Mothers Milk Bank. She can’t imagine a more rewarding career and is thrilled to continue her practice at OHSU where she also completed her residency training. 

Dr. Au grew up in San Francisco, but has also spent time in the Midwest and on the East Coast. In her spare time, she enjoys crafting, interior design, and exploring Portland with her husband and daughters. She is a former competitive volleyball player and enjoys cheering for the Portland Timbers and the San Francisco Giants.

  3. I had an incredible experience with Dr. Au. She was incredibly kind and thoughtful and explained everything very clearly. She had a resident working with her who was an excellent addition to the team. I was very nervous about having a procedure but it went incredibly smoothly and was much less uncomfortable than I had expected. Could not recommend Dr. Au enough!!

  11. Both the doctor in training and Katherine were fantastic. They did a great job of explaining everything to me and also what to expect around what they were doing that day. I appreciated everything from the conversations about why I chose OHSU to what and why they were doing what they were doing.

She allowed me space to voice my concerns without making me feel bad. She also didn't question my pain, and we have a path forward. Really grateful to her.

As we had never met before, Dr. Au took time to ask some personal questions and seemed to really listen to my answers, with good follow up questions.Gave me rationale for her thought processes but also time for me to consider options. Very competent with physical exam, etc. Also, I knew she had read some of my chart prior to meeting me which I appreciated.

She has great communication skills, and on top of all that, Dr. Au is very kind and caring, everything you would want in a healthcare provider.
