About me
I am a liver and pancreatic surgeon-scientist who specializes in treating:
- Pancreatic cancer
- Bile duct cancer
- Liver cancer
- Other digestive system conditions
I have extensive experience with laparoscopic and robotic surgery.
My research focuses on how surgery affects the spread (metastasis) and return (recurrence) of pancreatic cancer. I’m motivated by the unique challenges, traits and behaviors of pancreatic cancer. I feel privileged to study and treat something that touches so many lives in such a devastating way, having lost my grandmother to pancreatic cancer.
I grew up in rural eastern Connecticut. I enjoy cooking, woodworking, reading, gardening, skiing and being outdoors with my daughter and my husband. I especially enjoy the regional foods of the Pacific Northwest and the amazing food scene in Portland. I continue to entertain the idea of running a marathon.

Before scheduling your appointment, we recommend you contact your insurance company to verify that the OHSU Health location or provider you plan to visit is included in your network. Your insurance company will also be able to inform you of any copayments, co–insurance, or deductibles that will be your responsibility. If you proceed in scheduling an appointment and your health insurance benefits do not participate with OHSU providers, your out of pocket liability may be higher. Visit the billing and insurance section of our site for more information.
