Biomaterials for regenerative medical applications
Therapeutic foams and their delivery devices
Advanced wound hemostats and dressings
Biography
Dr. Guo received his Ph.D. in polymer chemistry from McGill university. He joined the Center for Regenerative Medicine at OHSU in 2015. He is currently leading research efforts on the development of novel therapeutic microfoams for applications in regenerative medicine and women care, including foam formulation, foaming device and foam delivery systems. Dr. Guo is a biomaterial scientist with over 20 years R&D experience in healthcare and fiber industries. Prior to joining in OHSU, Dr. Guo held positions as a leading scientist at Oregon Biomedical Engineering Institute, Oregon Biomedical Laser Center, Johnson & Johnson Co. and International Paper Co.
Dr. Guo is an expert in the field of natural polysaccharides, from their chemistry, manufacturing process to applications for medical devices to wound dressings and textile products. He has extensive experience in design and development of advanced hemostats and wound care products based on biopolymer for military and surgical use. His previous research also involved in-vitro and in-vivo studies of a wide range of medical products related to powder, film, patch, sponge, foam and injectable hydrogel dressings.
Dr. Guo enjoys playing table tennis when away from work. “It is a great way to boost the energy in dealing with all new challenges in doing complex research” he said.
