Diversity at the School of Dentistry
The School of Dentistry at the Oregon Health & Science University is committed to supporting and sustaining a diverse and inclusive environment for its students, residents, faculty, staff and patients. Diversity and Inclusion is the University's first goal in its Vision 2020 Strategic Plan in which it is stated that OHSU "be a great organization, diverse in people and ideas". Diversity is more than ones race, ethnicity and gender. It also includes but is not limited to national and ethnic origin, citizen status, color, creed, religion, disability, veteran status, age, sexual orientation and gender identity. We understand the importance of diversity in our learning environment as we prepare our graduates to provide patient care and serve as leaders in a dynamic world filled with people from all walks of life.
Through our recruitment and retention strategies, we hope to be able to attract diverse students to our programs who share in the mission of the OHSU School of Dentistry to foster an environment of mutual respect where the free exchange of ideas can flourish. Embracing diversity gives the School of Dentistry the power to continually improve and to demonstrate integrity, compassion, and leadership in healing, teaching, research and community service. A diverse workforce and student body helps us attract and retain top talent, foster innovation and creativity, flourish in a competitive market, maximize the return on our investment in people, and ensure flexibility to thrive.
