Meet the class of 2029!
Alejandra Hinojosa (she/her) grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area, then attended the University of Arizona for her undergraduate degree in physiology. Her passion in public health and medicine stems from her Peace Corps service in Guatemala, her work on an overdose prevention coalition through AmeriCorps, and her various clinical roles. Following her experience working for a county medical association, Alejandra has taken an interest in influencing healthcare policy in her future career, with the goal of improving the delivery of healthcare services to underserved populations.
Camille Marshall (she/her) grew up in Portland and attended Whitman College for her undergraduate studies in biology. She worked as a patient navigator at a Federally Qualified Health Center in Florida. Before coming to OHSU, she worked at Central City Concern as a healthcare navigator for people in supportive housing - as well as on their mobile health team. She played soccer in college and enjoys cycling, swimming, hiking and working in the garden.
Justine Lely (she/her) grew up in Happy Valley, Oregon and received her bachelor's degree from Portland State University with a major in psychology. Her interest in medicine came in part from her own diagnosis of type 1 diabetes during her first year of college. She developed an interest in public health research at OHSU studying pediatric health disparities and went on to complete a research fellowship at the National Institutes of Health, where she worked on studies examining traumatic brain injury and access to rehabilitation services. In her free time, she enjoys rugby, pickleball and photography.
Stephanie Munduruca (she/her) grew up in Canada before moving to San Diego with her family. She attended Chapman University, majoring in health sciences and minoring in peace studies. At Chapman, she volunteered for a children's STEM outreach program advocating for disadvantaged youth, volunteered in the ED and ICU during the pandemic, and held leadership roles in several student-led organizations on campus. Stephanie enjoys practicing yoga, hiking, traveling and exploring farmer's markets.
Ammara Molvi (she/her) grew up in Corvallis and graduated from Oregon State University with a degree in public health. Prior to coming to OHSU, she completed an internship in public health education on cancer screening, worked as an equity research intern at OHSU’s Center for Health Systems Effectiveness, and completed a year of service with Americorps, focusing on improving access to and sustainability of emergency medical services in Oregon’s rural and frontier communities. For fun, she enjoys traveling, hiking and graphic design.
Leda Liko (she/her) grew up in the Portland area and attended Oregon State University for her undergraduate degree, where she majored in biology double minored in chemistry and Spanish. Leda has spent the last few summers as a river rescue technician on many of the main Oregon rivers. She is the daughter of immigrants from Albania and speaks three languages. For fun, she likes to swim, scuba dive and spend time with her pitbull-lab mix in nature.
Ruth Carver Bondurant (she/her) grew up in Colorado, then attended Vassar College where she majored in Victorian Studies and minored in music. She then had a career in opera for about 15 years before the COVID pandemic started. Prior to coming to OHSU, Ruth worked on the Colorado maternal health task force, was a board member for Reach Out and Read, and contributed research into rheumatology. Ruth has two children and looks forward to exploring hiking in Oregon, checking out museums, cooking and rainy day jigsaw puzzles.
Kathryn “Kate” Thompson (she/her) grew up in Portland and went to the University of Washington for her undergraduate degree. There, she discovered public health as a field and majored in it - enjoying the framework of addressing systems to improve health as an important adjunct to direct service. Kate has worked on research projects including an out-of-hospital cardiac arrest registry, and gender disparities in bystander interventions and application of automated external defibrillators. Before coming to OHSU, she worked as a clinical research coordinator and for fun likes to ski, hike and play piano.
Kendra Yasui (she/her/ella) grew up in Parkdale, OR, then attended Oregon State University, where she received a B.S. in biohealth sciences and a B.A. in Spanish. Kendra worked in partnership with the Oregon Health Authority and the OSU Center for Health Innovation on a number of projects related to health policy, such as case investigation, feedback management, vaccine navigation, and rapid community assessment. For fun, she enjoys baking cakes, watching Friends and playing Dungeons & Dragons.
Avery Richardson (he/him) grew up in Riverside, California, and earned his bachelor's degree in kinesiology from Pacific University while playing football. Avery was awarded a U.S. Fulbright Grant to Germany, allowing him to conduct an epidemiological study on older adults using data from the German Aging Survey. He finds joy in spending time with his fiancée and their three dogs, engaging in outdoor activities, attending live sporting events, exploring history, learning languages, traveling and playing musical instruments.
Arthi Inagandla (she/her) was born and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area. She attended Ohlone College and then UC Berkeley, where she studied biology, minored in science education, and received a certificate in community health. She continued to develop this passion through her work at Planned Parenthood as a medical assistant. In her free time she loves to cook, spend time outdoors, read and kickbox.
