Lamfrom Biomedical Research Building

The Lamfrom Biomedical Research Building houses some of OHSU's most advanced laboratories and research equipment. That includes our PET/MRI scanner, which is used for both research and diagnostic imaging.

The building is near Multnomah Pavilion and Sam Jackson Hall.

It is named for Hildegard Lamfrom, a noted molecular biologist.

From Lake Oswego/Sellwood Bridge area

  1. Travel north on S.W. Macadam Ave.
  2. Turn left onto S.W. Boundary St.
  3. Proceed one block and turn right onto S.W. Corbett Ave.
  4. Turn left onto S.W. Hamilton St.
  5. Turn right onto S.W. Barbur Blvd. and continue for approximately 2.5 miles.
  6. Make a sharp left onto S.W. Caruthers St.
  7. Turn left at the second light onto S.W. 6th Ave.

From the west

  1. Travel east on Hwy. 26/Sunset Hwy.
  2. Stay in the right lane and follow the signs to I-405 (Salem/The Dalles).
  3. After passing through the Vista Ridge tunnel, stay to the right as the freeway branches.
  4. Take the 6th Ave. exit.
  5. Turn right onto S.W. 6th Ave., following signs to OHSU.

From the east

  1. Travel west on I-84. Follow signs to I-5 south (Salem).
  2. Cross the Marquam Bridge and merge into one of the two left lanes to City Center/Beaverton.
  3. Take the S.W. 6th Ave. exit. Immediately move to the left lane and turn onto S.W. College St. (or the next street that allows a left turn).
  4. Turn left onto S.W. Broadway Ave. and move to the right lane.
  5. Bear right onto S.W. 6th Ave., following signs to OHSU.

From the south via I-5

  1. Travel north on I-5.
  2. Take exit 297 (Terwilliger Blvd).
  3. Turn left at stop light onto S.W. Terwilliger Blvd.
  4. Turn right onto S.W. Barbur Blvd. and continue for approximately 3 miles.
  5. Make a sharp left onto S.W. Caruthers St.
  6. Turn left at the second light onto S.W. 6th Ave.

From the south using S.W. Barbur Blvd.

  1. Travel north on S.W. Barbur Blvd.
  2. Make a sharp left onto S.W. Caruthers St.
  3. Turn left at the second light onto S.W. 6th Ave.

From the southeast

  1. Travel west on S.E. Powell Blvd.
  2. Cross the Ross Island Bridge and take the City Center exit.
  3. Stay in the left lane and merge onto S.W. Kelly, which will turn into S.W. Arthur.
  4. After crossing S.W. Barbur Blvd., bear left onto S.W. Caruthers.
  5. Turn left onto S.W. 6th Ave.

From the north

  1. Travel south on I-5 toward Salem.
  2. Cross the Marquam Bridge and merge into one of the two left lanes to City Center/Beaverton.
  3. Take the S.W. 6th Ave exit. Immediately move to the left lane and turn onto S.W. College St.(or the next street that allows a left turn).

  1. Travel north on S.W. Moody Ave.
  2. Turn left onto S.W. River Pkwy.
  3. Continue onto S.W. Harrison St.
  4. Turn left at S.W. 5th Ave.
  5. Turn slightly left to stay on S.W. 5th Ave.
  6. Turn right at first cross-street onto S.W. Caruthers St.
  7. Turn left on S.W. 6th Ave.
  8. Follow signs to OHSU.
