From 2020 to 2021, a Científico Latino team supported more than 400 graduate school applicants from minoritized backgrounds in science, engineering, mathematics, and technology and studied the results. The journal Cell published their findings Aug. 17 in a perspective piece entitled "Insights and Strategies for Improving Equity in Graduate School Admissions" .
Among the executive board members of Cientifico Latino, and a co-author on the Cell perspective piece, is Yessica Santana Agreda, a doctoral candidate in the OHSU School of Medicine Neuroscience Graduate Program, who was recently named a Gilliam fellow.
