EMBRACE Exercising Together

A study opportunity for you and your partner during radiation treatment

Meet Donna and David and hear about their experience in the EMBRACE Study at OHSU.

EMBRACE Exercising Together© is a research study designed to learn how being physically active can help preserve the physical and emotional well-being of people with breast or prostate cancer and their partners as they go through radiation treatment together. Your participation could help to gather information to guide future implementation of physical activity into routine cancer care.

How it works

By joining EMBRACE Exercising Together©, you will either be:

  1. Asked to participate in an online exercise class with your spouse/partner 3 times a week for 8 weeks, beginning at the start of radiation treatments, or
  2. Provided with information and resources about how to stay physically active during and after radiation treatment.

What is expected?

All participants will be asked to:

  • Complete online surveys about your health and relationship
  • Complete brief, simple assessments of physical functioning from your home, using videoconferencing
  • Track daily activity and sleep monitoring by wearing a digital wristwatch (like a Fitbit) for up to 3 days at a time, and
  • Perform a self-administered finger stick poke to collect 5 drops of blood on a sample collection card.

Who can participate?
