Noah Hornick, M.D., Ph.D.
Assistant Professor of Dermatology
Member, Knight Cancer Institute

My research interests are focused on the way in which the immune system within the skin regulates itself to provide protection against external invaders and against cancer from within, and on how this regulation breaks down in the development of inflammatory skin disease, and when patients are treated with cancer immunotherapy.

When I'm not in lab or in clinic, I enjoy spending time with my wife and two cats, exploring the Pacific Northwest, playing and listening to music, and spending time outside doing whatever activity the weather is encouraging.

Senior Research Assistant

Undergraduate: University of Oregon
Background: Protein Engineering

I am originally from Portland, OR and moved back here after graduating in 2023 from the University of Oregon with a Bachlor of Science in Biology. During my undergraduate studies, I worked at the Plesa lab researching red and blue fluorescent protein optimization utilizing machine learning and a high-throughput gene synthesis method. At the Hornick Lab I am excited to expand my knowledge of immunology and dermatology, learn new technology and techniques, and create connections at OHSU.

In my free time I enjoy cooking (I make a perfect risotto), reading books, creating playlists, being an amateur film critic, and thrifting various home decor or clothing.

Undergraduate: Berry College
Graduate: Oregon State University
Background/Interests: Biological rhythms, computational biology

I joined the Kulkarni lab at the beginning of 2023 after earning my Ph.D. in Biochemistry and Biophysics from Oregon State University. I am developing expertise in the analysis of single-cell sequencing and spatial transcriptomics in the fields of immuno-oncology and dermatology.

Outside of lab I enjoy reading, crocheting, yoga and walking my dog. I volunteer with Women in Science Portland.
