Before You Apply
Please review the eligibility criteria before applying to PREP. These criteria have been outlined by the NIH and are as follows:
- You must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident;
- You must have a baccalaureate degree in a biomedically relevant science field from an accredited college or university awarded no more than 36 months prior to applying to a PREP (see FAQs for some exceptions); and
- At the start of the program (July 1), an individual cannot be enrolled in a degree program. Undergraduate students graduating in spring before the start of PREP are eligible to apply.
The goal of PREP is to support educational activities that promote a competitive U.S. biomedical research workforce. Individuals from racially marginalized groups in STEM, individuals with disabilities, and individuals from disadvantaged backgrounds are strongly encouraged to apply. See FAQs for more information.
