Before You Apply
Please review the eligibility criteria before applying to PREP. These criteria have been outlined by the NIH and are as follows:
- You must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident;
- You must have a baccalaureate degree in a biomedically relevant science field from an accredited college or university awarded no more than 36 months prior to applying to a PREP (see FAQs for some exceptions); and
- At the start of the program (July 1), an individual cannot be enrolled in a degree program. Undergraduate students graduating in spring before the start of PREP are eligible to apply.
The goal of PREP is to support educational activities that enhance the diversity of the biomedical research workforce. Individuals from racially marginalized groups in STEM, individuals with disabilities, and individuals from disadvantaged backgrounds are strongly encouraged to apply. See FAQs for more information.
