The Aicher lab has been awarded a grant from the National Eye Institute (R41 EY030804) to test the ability of resveratrol-based eye drops to reduce acute pain in a rat model of corneal injury. The injury model is similar to a procedure used in humans for refractive surgery for vision correction, which can produce persistent eye pain in some people. The project is a collaborative small business grant with Ted’s Brain Science Inc., a company based in Texas.
