Administrative Fellowship

The Administrative Fellowship in Emergency Medicine and concurrent recommended Healthcare MBA program develops the essential skills needed in clinical operations, quality improvement, and financial management to prepare fellows for positions as emergency department medical directors and hospital administrative leaders.

Overview

Oregon Health and Science University (OHSU) Department of Emergency Medicine offers a 2-year Emergency Medicine Healthcare Administration Fellowship. Fellows complete a two-year Master's in Business Administration (MBA) degree as part of this program. This fellowship is approved by the Society for Academic Emergency Medicine (SAEM). It is ideal for Emergency Medicine residency graduates with a strong interest in healthcare quality improvement, clinical operations, service excellence, and financial management.

Objective

To develop the essential skills of future emergency medicine leaders through practical experiences at OHSU in clinical operations, quality improvement, clinical informatics, service excellence, and financial management.

Requirements

  • Board certified/ board eligible in Emergency Medicine
  • Strong interest in emergency medicine quality improvement and operations management
  • Interest in healthcare administration leadership roles such as medical director of an Emergency Department, clinical quality improvement medical director, or other physician administrative leadership roles in academic and community hospital settings.
