The branch of medicine that provides diagnosis and treatment (surgical and/or non-surgical) of the entire nervous system (brain, spinal cord and spinal column, as well as the nerves that travel through all parts of the body (hands, legs, arms, face)) is called neurosurgery, or neurological surgery.
Surgeons who provide the operative and non-operative management (i.e., prevention, diagnosis, evaluation, treatment, critical care and rehabilitation) of neurological disorders are called neurological surgeons or neurosurgeons.
