About us
The Thomas lab is interested in understanding the contribution of CD8 tissue-resident memory T cells to inflammatory diseases in the human gastrointestinal tract and liver. We hypothesize that we can leverage the study of the epigenetic and transcriptional heterogeneity of these populations to empower better diagnostic and therapeutic strategies to treat a variety of immune-mediated diseases. To carry out of these studies, we primarily rely on the study of human tissue and blood specimens that have been generously donated by patients with autoimmune and drug-induced immune diseases.
Our group is part of the Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology, the Department of Cell, Developmental, and Cancer Biology, and the Knight Cancer Institute. We strive to build a positive and inclusive research environment where we believe that a diversity of voices and perspectives is essential for performing high quality translational studies.
