Welcome to the Department of Neurological Surgery
Neurological surgeons at OHSU, Doernbecher Children’s Hospital, and the four other hospitals we serve, deliver comprehensive surgical care for patients with brain, spinal cord, and peripheral nerve diseases. Our specialists combine a sincere interest in the welfare of their patients with cutting edge surgical skills and technology.
OHSU Neurological Surgery maintains dedicated programs in brain, skull base, and pituitary tumors, spinal surgery, vascular neurosurgery, movement disorders, epilepsy, facial pain, complex spinal and cancer pain, pediatric neurosurgery, craniofacial disorders, hydrocephalus, spina bifida, spasticity, peripheral nerve disorders, and nervous system trauma.
Innovation at OHSU has included the first deep brain stimulation surgery in North America, the first neuronal stem cell transplants in the world, and the first and most powerful intra-operative MRI facility in a children’s hospital in the western United States. We also house a nationally leading neurosurgery training program and advanced fellowships in skull base and vascular, functional, and pediatric neurosurgery. Scientists in our department contribute to fundamental understanding of pain perception and of the brain’s blood supply.
OHSU Neurological Surgery is proud to serve our fellow citizens in Oregon, the Pacific Northwest, and beyond, seeking to improve the life of every patient and the health of our community.
