All Nursing Students
After completing the primary modules detailed on the Welcome page, complete the additional modules that pertain to your clinical placement role.
All nursing roles listed will be granted Epic access. Specific Epic course information will be provided in an introductory email by the OHSU Onboarding Coordinator.
The modules listed below are searchable in Compass. Some are self-assigned and others may be assigned to you by the OHSU Onboarding Coordinator.
BLS Certification Requirement
OHSU does not accept AHA RQI certification. Learners must obtain an AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) Provider certification card.

Inpatient
Inpatient rotations complete:
- Omnicell Nurse Patient Care Training
- Glucometer - 2025 POCT Curriculum
- In-person glucometer training is required. After completing the Glucometer module, search for the title: Glucometer Training For Visiting Nursing Students and register in Compass for a date/time to attend.
- Epic Video Training: Inpatient Nursing Students Curriculum
- Search for and complete the training in Compass. Training must be completed before access is provided.

Network & Epic information
Network login and Epic information will be provided to you directly via the email address your school Placement Coordinator provided to OHSU. Look for a secure email from MailGate SC. You will need to create a temporary account to view the email. Please see the directions provided to support you in this process: MailGate SC Job Aid
The email will also include an attachment with instructions indicating how to authenticate your OHSU Network ID during your first rotation.

Epic access will be granted after the successful completion of modules and training on the first day of your rotation start date. If you have completed the requirements and your rotation has started and you still do not have access, please contact the Epic Support Desk at epicsupp@ohsu.edu.
Omnicell
After the completion of the Omnicell Compass module and assessment, you will need to sign an attestation statement in Compass. The attestation is required prior to receiving Omnicell access.
Missing a training
If you are late to a live training, please contact the OHSU Student Onboarding Coordinator to reschedule. Visiting students will not be allowed to start a clinical rotation without completing the required training and modules.
