Mission
As part of the Casey Eye Institute, we improve access to eye care to preserve the gift of sight and eliminate preventable blindness in the communities we are privileged to serve. In collaboration with domestic and international community leaders we are committed to changing how vision care is provided through serving our global community by integrating the highest standards of service, education, research, scholarship, and clinical practice to meet each community’s unique vision health care needs.
Programs
Oregon Vision Health Network
The OHSU Casey Eye Institute Community Outreach Program is introducing a whole new approach to community eye care by building the Oregon Vision Health Network (OVHN). The network is a statewide group of over 53 community-based partner organizations working together to overcome the barriers to providing eye care for rural and underserved communities who are at the highest risk for blindness.
By building upon trusted community partnerships, the OVHN integrates mobile healthcare, teleophthalmology, vision health navigation, and care coordination at the primary care medical home level along with the expertise at Casey Eye Institute to expand the outreach program’s capacity to save sight in Oregon by finding and treating disease early.
Global Ophthalmology
Casey Eye Institute’s Global Ophthalmology Program collaboratively works across initiatives in Southeast Asia and American Samoa - they are focused on fellowships, training, research and improving eye care delivery.
National Collaborations
Casey Eye Institute faculty are involved in collaborations across the U.S. in support of accessible and equitable eye care, education and research programs, and vision and eye health advocacy.
