Dupuytren's Contracture
Surgery of the hand may be performed for many reasons, including trauma, rheumatic changes in the structure of the hand, congenital deformities and infection. Dupuytren’s Contracture is a painless thickening and contracture of tissue beneath the skin on the palm of the hand and fingers. The cause is unknown but is more common over the age of 40 and more often affects men. Surgery and injections can be performed to release the contracture and restore normal movement of the fingers.
