Rhinoplasty
The shape and size of one’s nose can be a source of unhappiness for many who feel that it is too large or unshapely. One may also suffer from impaired breathing caused by structural abnormalities within the nose.
You may be considering changing your nose size, width, profile, tip, nostril or nasal asymmetry due to septal deviation. OHSU surgeons specialize in correcting and improving these shapes while enhancing facial harmony and general self-confidence.
Rhinoplasty, often called a “nose job,” is the surgical procedure for correcting structural deformities of the nose. It involves redesigning the nose, either by removing excess tissues or correcting insufficiencies to improve overall nasal contour and function. The incisions are placed in relatively hidden positions, such as inside the nostril or underneath the nose, to avoid visible scarring.
Rhinoplasty is an outpatient procedure. You may be required to wear an external splint for a few days. After the splint is removed, your nose may appear slightly swollen. Within two weeks, most patients can return to full activities and enjoy their new and improved look.
Deviated septum
Nasal blockage, obstruction or congestion are common problems and can have a severe impact on a one’s quality of life. While some cases can be managed with relatively simple treatments, other causes of nasal obstruction can be quite challenging to treat.
OHSU doctors combine their skills in medical and surgical management to address both simple and challenging cases of nasal obstruction. By combining their diverse experience, our doctors provide safe, technologically-advanced care to patients with nasal obstruction.
A deviated septum, also known as nasal obstruction, is a surgical procedure that reshapes the nose and eliminates breathing issues. When combined with a rhinoplasty, the procedure (known as a septorhinoplasty) not only eliminates the nasal obstruction, but can cosmetically enhance the outward appearance of your nose.
