Neuroma
Neuroma is a growth or tumor of nerve tissue. Traumatic neuroma follows different forms of nerve injury and may be a result of surgery. They occur at the end of injured nerve fibers and are often very painful. Morton's Neuroma involves a thickening of tissue around one of the nerves leading to your toe. It sometimes causes a sharp burning pain in the ball of your foot or feels as if you are standing on a pebble. OHSU surgeons can diagnose the problem with a physical exam and treat the condition with a variety of methods including alcohol injections and surgical procedures.
