Research Pharmacy Services
OHSU Research Pharmacy Services (RPS) provides research medication management services with the primary goal of promoting patient safety for those participating in human clinical drug trials.
Management of research medications includes, but is not limited to the following services:
- Secure storage
- Drug procurement and inventory receipt
- 24 Hour Temperature Monitoring
- Accountability
- Preparation
- Sterile and nonsterile compounding
- Repackaging
- Blinding
- Randomization
- Labeling and dispensing
- Consultation with research team, both in early and late planning stages of protocol initiation
- Dose adjustment and dose calculations
- Budget estimates
- Staff training
- Facilitate remote monitoring visits
RPS provides these services in compliance with Det Norske Veritas (DNV-GL), ASHP, Code of Federal Regulations, Oregon Board of Pharmacy, and OHSU Hospital and University policies.
RPS coordinates the use of research medications in many areas throughout the OHSU campus, and beyond:
- OHSU and Doernbecher Children's Hospital (DCH) inpatient services
- OHSU and DCH ambulatory infusion clinic patients
- Outpatients (OHSU, DCH, Casey Eye Institute)
- Inpatient and outpatient research operating through the Oregon Clinical and Translational Research Institute (OCTRI)
- Inpatient and outpatient research coordinated by the Knight Cancer Institute
- Serving as coordinating research pharmacy for investigator-initiated multi-center trails
