Training

The Department of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery at OHSU offers top-notch educational opportunities to interested and qualified medical students, residents, fellows, pre- and post-doctoral students, and providers in the community. 

Medical Student education - We offer medical students opportunities to learn about otolaryngology / head and neck surgery through curriculum offerings, PCM courses, and a variety of other educational opportunities. We also provide summer research internships at the Oregon Hearing Research Center, as well as clinical and research rotations. The Medical Student experience is currently under the direction of Dr. Mark K. Wax.

Residency program - Our residency program is directed by Mark K. Wax, MD. We offer a fully accredited, five-year residency program, focusing on the surgical, clinical, and research areas of Otolaryngology and Head and Neck Surgery. 

Fellowship program -Fellowships provide opportunities for qualified applicants to obtain research, clinical, and educational expertise in the field of otolaryngology-head and neck surgery. We offer fellowships in facial plastics, microvascular and reconstructive surgery, and rhinology. 

Pre- and Post-doctoral education - We offer pre-and post doctoral training for qualified PhD students interested in basic science as it applies to otolaryngology. For more information, click here.
