Joining OHSU as a new faculty member can seem like a dizzying process. To help in this, the School of Medicine Faculty Affairs and Faculty Development teams have put together some valuable resources to help guide you through the process.

New Faculty Foundations: Building for Success

This series of six workshops is designed to provide new OHSU School of Medicine faculty with a longitudinal orientation program that meets three core objectives:

  1. To develop and sustain a supportive community among all SoM faculty, across missions and departments. 
  2. To foster and enhance SoM faculty engagement, career satisfaction and retention.
  3. To provide faculty with precision, or “just in time” resources to better define their faculty roles and responsibilities and to emphasize and support their academic advancement and professional development.

While meant more for department administrators who will be tasked with helping you get acclimated to OHSU, the above page may be useful to new faculty in order to get a brief sense of what some of your first days and weeks at OHSU will look like.

The orientation page has a wealth of resources that will help you learn more about the School's senior leadership and point you in the direction of training opportunities and other learning resources. You can also expect to find:

Professional Development Series: New Educator Orientation

OHSU’s version of New Faculty Orientation is called the Professional Development Series (PDS).  The primary audience of the Professional Development Series (PDS) is new-to-OHSU or early career faculty, but we encourage post-docs, grad students, staff and educators at any stage to attend whichever sessions look helpful to them as well. The PDS consists of six, three-hour workshops on these topics and runs every fall.
