Each year, the OHSU Preventive Residency Program accepts two residents who have completed at least one year of clinical training. 

Applicants can include residents, fellows and practicing physicians. Applications must be completed through the Electronic Residency Application System (ERAS). 

Eligible applicants to the OHSU Preventive Medicine Residency Program must:

  • All applicants must be eligible for employment at OHSU at the time of hire  
  • All applicants must have completed at least one year of clinical training in an Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME)-accredited residency program prior to the start of Preventive Medicine Program
  •  All candidates must qualify for a limited medical license through the Oregon Board of Medical Examiners  
  • All applicants must have successfully completed United States Medical Licensing Examination (USMLE) steps I, II and III prior to the start of the residency program
    • OR successfully completed Comprehensive Osteopathic Medical Licensing Examination (COMPLEX) steps I, II and III prior to the start of the residency program
  • All applicants must have graduated from a U.S. or Canadian medical school accredited by the Liaison Committee on Medical Education or have graduated from a foreign medical school and be certified by the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates prior to the start of the residency program  
  • Applicants must be a U.S. citizen, permanent legal resident (hold a green card) or hold/be eligible for a visa sponsored by the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG). Common visa types at OHSU are the F1, H1B, and J1 visas
