“Graduation, especially in medicine and biomedical science, is really about hope,” said David Jacoby, M.D., dean of the OHSU School of Medicine. “It’s when the idealism, diligence and passion that fuel so many of our students are unleashed to help address our most pressing health challenges and to refresh our optimism and belief in what is possible for our patients and for humankind.”

On Friday, June 9, 2023, OHSU hosted Convocation. Then, in a tour de force of logistical excellence, the School of Medicine staged our Hooding & Completion Ceremony, combining Undergraduate Medical Education (M.D. Program) and Graduate Studies — ceremonies that are usually separate —  awarding 444 degrees and certificates (see the numbers below).

OHSU Convocation and the Hooding and Completion Ceremonies are the work of an army of staff and faculty members and months of planning. The School of Medicine thanks our staff and faculty who gave their best selves to ensure that this singular day ran smoothly for our students.
