At the Oregon Health and Science University (OHSU) Pulmonary & Critical Care Medicine Fellowship program, we understand the importance of prioritizing wellness and wellbeing as you embark on your journey to become skilled and compassionate Pulmonary & Critical Care Physicians. We strive to foster an environment that is supportive and promotes our faculty and fellows wellbeing. All of our incoming fellows are scheduled for an opt-out appointment with the OHSU Resident & Faculty Wellness Program. This program is completely confidential and here to support all residents, fellows and faculty at OHSU.

OHSU recognizes that the demands of medical training can be intense, and we are dedicated to creating an environment that promotes work-life balance and self-care. Here are some of the ways we prioritize wellness and support your overall wellbeing:

  • Wellness Programs: OHSU offers a range of wellness programs designed to support your mental, emotional, and physical health. These programs may include mindfulness workshops, stress management sessions, yoga or fitness classes, and access to counseling services. We encourage you to take advantage of these resources to develop healthy habits and manage the demands of your training effectively.

  • Supportive Community: As a fellow at OHSU, you will become part of a close-knit community that values collaboration, mutual support, and camaraderie. Our faculty, staff, and fellow fellows are committed to creating a positive and inclusive environment where you can feel supported and encouraged throughout your training. This community will serve as a source of guidance, friendship, and emotional support during both professional and personal challenges.

  • Mentorship and Guidance: As part of the fellowship program, you will have access to experienced faculty mentors who are dedicated to your professional growth and overall wellbeing. They will provide guidance, support, and advocacy, helping you navigate the challenges of training while encouraging a healthy and balanced approach to your career.

  • Pacific Northwest Lifestyle: Living in the Pacific Northwest offers a unique opportunity to embrace an active and outdoorsy lifestyle. Portland, Oregon, known for its natural beauty, provides abundant opportunities for outdoor activities such as hiking, biking, and exploring stunning landscapes. Engaging in these activities can help you rejuvenate, stay active, and promote your overall wellbeing.

Join us at OHSU and embark on a fellowship experience that not only supports your academic and clinical growth but also nurtures your overall wellbeing. Together, we will ensure that your journey is marked by balance, resilience, and fulfillment.
