PDS: New Educator Orientation
OHSU’s version of New Faculty Orientation is called the Professional Development Series (PDS). The primary audience of the Professional Development Series (PDS) is new-to-OHSU or early career faculty, but we encourage post-docs, grad students staff, and educators at any stage to attend whichever sessions look helpful to them as well. The PDS consists of six, three-hour workshops on these topics and runs every fall (Sept-Dec):
- Classroom Pedagogy and Education Scholarship
- Clinical Pedagogy and Scholarship
- Promotion and Tenure
- Research and Publishing
- Strategies and Tools for Promoting Your Work
- Professional Growth and Mentorship
For more information, registration instructions, and how to access recordings, please see Develop Professionally on O2.
Student Services Units: Orientation for New Educators
New educators also benefit from learning about OHSU’s student services units. This allows new educators to be more effective at providing referrals to students who need them. Recordings of short presentations about the following student services units can be found on the Student Central O2 page:
- Library
- Student Academic Support Services
- Student Health and Wellness
- Education Debt Counseling
- Student Access
- Financial Aid and Registrar
