On this page you’ll find information about the health services offered to students and postdoctoral scholars at OHSU’s Student Health and Wellness Center:

Some services are also available for the spouses, domestic partners, and adult children of students and postdoctoral scholars.

Primary care

Virtual and in-person primary care appointments are available. 

Primary care services: 

  • Preventive care, treatment of injuries and illnesses and care for ongoing health conditions 
  • Sexual and reproductive health, including birth control, IUDs, pregnancy tests and testing for STIs 
  • Gender-affirming care 
  • OHSU compliance requirements, like vaccines and annual TB screening 
  • Travel-related medical care and vaccines 
  • Medication management, including prescription refills 
  • Referrals for specialty care 
  • Testing for COVID-19, blood-borne pathogens, and treatment for needlestick injuries 
  • Sensitive, confidential exams for students of any gender who are survivors of sexual misconduct

Behavioral health

Behavioral health services include: 

  • Short-term counseling for individuals and couples
  • Therapy and support groups
  • Therapy for insomnia
  • Therapy referrals to providers in the community
  • Psychiatric evaluations, referrals for psychiatric care and medication management
  • Crisis support
  • Assessment and treatment for alcohol and other substance abuse problems
  • Suicide prevention training and other initiatives

When you call for your first appointment, we’ll book you for a 30-minute phone call with a provider and together you’ll create a care plan.

Let’s Talk: Online drop-in support

Every Wednesday from 12-1 p.m., you can drop in to talk one-on-one with a counselor over Zoom. Let's Talk is free for OHSU students and postdoctoral scholars. You don’t need to make an appointment to join. 

What to expect when you join: 

  • A welcoming, non-judgmental space 
  • A trained professional who will listen to your concerns 
  • A brief, solution-focused conversation to explore your issues 
  • Guidance, information and resources to help address your concerns 
  • A supportive space to discuss a range of topics, including academic stress, relationship concerns, personal development and more

Current primary care patients can schedule virtual visits on MyChart

After hours support

If you have an emergency, call 911. 

If you experience a behavioral health crisis outside of regular hours, call us at 503-494-8665, ext. 5, to talk to a crisis counselor. 

If you need non-emergency medical advice outside of regular hours, call the OHSU hospital at 503-494-8311 and ask for Student Health’s after-hours triage.
